Some of the documents are available in color. This database was created from the collection of the American Antiquarian Society.

From the New York Times Homepage the archives of the newspaper is searchable from a box in the upper left hand corner of the screen. The pull down menu divides the search from 1980 to the current and 1851-1980. One you begin a search, an advanced search menu is offered which allows you to search by author, in headlines, and by specific date or date range.
